Did You Know...
"The same sensory input can trigger a negative emotion or a positive one, depending on the memories associated with it."* That is why one person can get excited when the snow starts in November while their partner gets depressed. Each of us actually experiences the world differently.

Janelle Carle, M.A.

Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Janelle CarleAre you stuck, and unsure about how to address a current life stressor? Everyone has had that experience at one time or another. I understand the joys and complexities of being in a relationship and having a partner. Being in a committed relationship has been rewarding, challenging, and vulnerable at times; and I have learned a lot about myself in the process. I believe that any relationship is a journey towards growth and understanding.

My passion is working with couples and enhancing communication. Often times couples experience feeling disconnected due to fighting, a new job, disagreements about intimacy, lack of communication, an affair, a new baby, or settling into comfortable patterns, I love the work we do together to reconnect and rebuild emotional intimacy. I meet with all kinds of couples, so whether you have been married for 30 years, are living together long-term, are recently engaged, planning a commitment ceremony, taking a break, or living separately let's develop a plan to get you where you want to be in your relationship. Clients often report a sense of relief after a few meetings because they know that problems are being actively addressed. This creates a sense of calm that allows couples to be able to navigate their daily lives more comfortably.

What happens in the process of counseling? Together we will explore your concerns and I will tailor my style to your unique needs. We may explore your family of origin to look for helpful and unhelpful patterns that show up in your life. We will also develop steps you can take to begin the process of change.

Other areas I specialize in:

  • Discussing sex and sexuality, furthering your intimate connection
  • Rebuilding trust
  • Decrease fighting and learning to fight fairly so both of you are heard

While I tend to work mostly with relationships and couples, I also have familiarity with many individual issues such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, personal growth, career changes, and emotional wellness.

I honor the diversity that clients bring, from culture and ethnicity to gender and sexual orientation; clients experience a welcome and inviting atmosphere at Rekindle Counseling.

I have my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary's University, advanced training in Narrative Therapy, enjoy using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I am a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT), and the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors and Therapists (AASECT)

Please contact me for a free thirty-minute consultation, which is a good opportunity to see if we’re a good fit before we begin working together. I am available Monday evenings, Wednesday day and evening, Friday day and evening (last appointment at 6pm) and Saturdays starting at 10am, my availability does periodically change so feel free to ask for the time that best suits you and I will do my best to accommodate your scheduling needs.  (Email Janelle Carle.)
